Retromarcia Chianti Classico 2007
The Wine - it is a deep ruby red with hints of purple; aromas of blackberry, cherry and red plums, anise and spice and orange peel; on the palate it is fresh and fruity, medium-bodied, well balanced, with a nice structure, juicy acidity and a long finish.
The Vineyards: Retromarcia. The wine was born from a unique opportunity to work with local farmers who own prime vineyards in the Conca D'Oro, or golden slopes, of Panzano—a sub-zone, long regarded as one of the best growing areas for Sangiovese in Chianti Classico. These vineyards, classic in their terrain, consist of a large proportion of shale (Galestro) and marl-sandstone (Marne), and are, on average, eight years in age. As a result of a close collaboration, we achieved fruit of optimal ripeness, and balance.
