Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Wiltinger Riesling Trocken 2013
At more than 650 years old Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is one of the most historical Riesling properties in Mosel. No other German wine estate owns as many top single vineyard sites. Their steep slopes all require hand harvesting. With a bouquet evocative of Wilting's steely slate slopes and clean cut distinctive refreshing flavor; this is classic dry Saar Riesling.
For years, Annegret and Gerhard Gartner have created a nearly perfect harmony between their personal and professional lives – something only a few married couples succeed in doing. Not only are they inseparable from one another, but also from their work. The von Kesselstatt estate, dating back to 1349, owns the finest spectrum of sites in the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer valleys. In 1978 the Reh family acquired the estate from the Reichsgrafen (imperial counts) of Kesselstatt. Annagret Reh-Gartner, currently at the helm of the business, supported by her husband Gerhard, is a regular presence at Society tastings. Since taking over the couple has particularly concentrated efforts on lowering yields and improving quality to great effect.
