Pittnauer Pinot Noir Fuchenfeld 2006
Ruby garnet color. On the nose, a very typical varietal character with subtle notes of orange blossoms, raspberry puree, spices, and a delicate, chocolatey touch. On the palate it's juicy and floral with a fine, sweet essence, soft tannins, fine acidity, violets on the finish, and lemony nuances in the aftertaste.
The Pittnauer Winery is located on the east shore of the Neusiedler See in Austria's Burgenland region, which is at the eastern extremity of Austria bordering with Hungary. Long considered a St. Laurent specialist, their Pinot Noir has gained accolades as one of the best varietal representatives from Austria. Working with approximately 40 acres, including Vineyards in Altenberg, Pittnauer produces close to 60,000 bottles from mainly Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, and Zweigelt, utilizing only sustainable methods in the vineyards and indigenous yeasts in the cellar.
