Sancerre is a fine, ripe, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc grown on unique "terres blanches"—limestone-rich clay soil that gives freshness and fine minerality to the wines of this region. It has bright, citrus, and flower-scented fruit balanced with weight and richness on the palate. And, the hallmark of a fine wine, it has a tantalizingly long and complex finish. This Sancerre is a wonderful aperitif and a superb complement to even richly-flavored fish and poultry dishes.
Produced and bottled for Jameswine.fr by Foucher Lebrun. James Wine was formed in 2009 by James Ryland as a Bordeaux-based brand-development company, with the objective of creating and marketing new wine brands from classic regions for international importers and distributers. His previous experience as both an importer based in Dubai covering Middle Eastern and Asian markets and then as sales and marketing director with leading Bordeaux-producer Andre Lurton enabled him to develop an insider's understanding of both wine importing and producing requirements. Long-standing relations with growers in the classic regions of France: Champagne, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon, the Loire, and the Rhone, and also in Northern Spain and South Africa—and a very close association with a dedicated, wine-industry design house means James Wine is well placed to develop new blends, brand concepts, labels, and communication materials. Foucher-Lebrun is a "petit negociant" specializing in wines from the Loire Valley. The company's mission is to convey as accurately as possible the expression of the appellations in the Loire region by careful selection, vinification, and aging of its wines. Sancerre is an old fortified town that stands sentry on a loop of the Loire River deep in the heart of France. The Loire Valley is famous for its noble chateaux and produces some of the world's finest white wines.
