Paul Jaboulet Aine Domaine de Thalabert 2007
Syrah (Shiraz) | France
Domaine de Thalabert has been in the Jaboulet family since 1834. It is the oldest vineyard in the Crozes appellation and is situated on a stony plain of glacial origin. It covers 40 hectares of vines which are 40-60 years old.
The grapes were handpicked, sorted by hand. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks and was followed by a long maceration. The wine was aged for 12-15 months in oak casks. Intensely colored, deep cherry red with purple lights, the 2006 Domaine Thalabert is intense and restrained on the nose, with perfumes of dark cherries and spicy notes. On the palate it is powerful, with ripe, structured tannins and the concentration characteristic of this low yielding vintage.
