Marlborough enjoyed a particularly dry and relatively cool summer and autumn. This ensured a long slow growing season yielding fruit of optimal ripeness and richness of flavor. Grapes were selected from a wide variety of our Wairau and Awatere vineyards to ensure a complex and harmonious flavor profile. Upon harvesting, the fruit was crushed and destemmed. After crushing, the juice was given up to 3 hours skin contact, then drained to tank and pressed. A variety of yeasts were used in fermentation, promoting maximum flavor expression and complexity in the wine.
