Noah Winery Gedeon Semi Dry Red 2011
Noah Winery was founded by Michel Murciano, a Jewish winemaker from France. After much research to find the best vineyards, he began planting grapes around Hebron. The hills of Negev get plenty of sunshine, as well as coolness from the Mediterranean Sea due to high altitudes of around 3200 ft. This optimal combination lets the grapes ripen. The region is already mentioned in the Bible as an area where the Canaanites cultivated grapes. Moses had sent scouts who brought back with them large bunches of grapes from this area, which proved the fertility of the land. Since then, there have always been vineyards in this area. Michel has been advised by Oenologist Jacques Humeau, who studied at a wine university in Bordeaux, since the winery's inception. The wines are among Israel's top wines and receives high International acclaim. Gedeon Semi Dry Red hails from the foothills of the Judean Mountains, south and east from Jerusalem near Beth Shemesh. A charming, semidry red wine that is fruit forward and fermented in French oak barrels.
Deep color. Intense with aromas of blueberry, blackcurrants, and chocolate with hints of tobacco notes. Best served with T-bone steak, tagine of lamb, or flavorful hard cheese.
