Nino Negri Quadrio Valtellina Superiore 2009
Dark garnet red in color, this wine offers very pronounced, ethereal aromas with delicate notes of berry fruit, a grassy nuance, and sensations of raspberry jam, rose, and violet. The palate is dry, full, and vigorous with elegant tannins and a long, lingering finish.
Established in 1897, Nino Negri is located in the city of Chiuro, inside the 15th-century Quadrio Castle. The castle sits above an array of underground cellars which houses about 1,500 medium-sized oak barrels, almost exclusively French, where the wines are aged. All Nino Negri wines age for at least two years before they are released, to ensure optimum maturity at time of bottling. Today, Nino Negeri is the premier estate producing wine in the Valtellina DOCG of Italy's Lombardy region.
