Aurelio Montes considers this blend a real achievement, showing carmenere at its best. Its color is a beautiful ruby red with a delicate chocolate aroma also reminiscent of vanilla), coffee, and butterscotch. It has a complex body and is full on the palate, with a soft and generous, long finish. Recommended serving temperatue is 61 to 64 degrees F. This wine can be cellared for at least six years.
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenere. Aurelio Montes has pioneered in premium and ultra-premium wines, in discovering new wine regions like the superb Apalta Valley and Marchigue (both in Colchagua), in establishing low-yield, steep mountain vineyards and in doing so has gained wide, international recognition. Wine Spectator said it briefly: "Montes offers prehaps the broadest range of quality wine in Chile today." Nourished with T.L.C. (tender loving care), all their vines and wines are the result of personal dedication, a great team, and a little help from their angels. This is a unique blend of cabernet sauvignon and carmenere—the long-lost French varietal that disappeared in France with philloxera in the 19th century, which was rediscovered in the last decade, growing almost wild in Chile.
