Monrosso Chianti 2011
Ruby red with nuances of violet. Intense aromas of ripe red berries. Soft and elegant palate, with flavors of red berry fruit and a pleasant acidity, leading to a lingering finish. Enjoy with antipasto, grilled meats, burgers, or Italian specialties.
80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 10% Colorino. Estate bottled by Castello di Monsanto. In 1962, Fabrizio Bianchi founded the winery after it was presented to him as a wedding gift from his parents. That same year, the pioneering Monsanto was the first winery to make a chianti classico cru from the single 'Il Poggio' vineyard and worked to eliminate white grapes from its Chianti Classico Riserva blend. Further, in 1981 Monsanto harvested the first 100% cabernet sauvignon, Nemo, from the Il Mulino vineyard.
