Founded in 1956 the Michele Chiarlo winery is located in Calamandrana, Piedmont, whcih is still family owned and operated to this day. The Chiarlo family owns 148 acres and oversees the viticulture of another 123.5 in the three classic growing areas of Piedmont: Langhe, Monferrato, and Gavi. Their three vinification facilities are among Piedmont's most technologically advanced, allowing the wines to be produced according to the quality principles that Michele Chiarlo helped to innovate in the region. With possibly the first vineyard art park, the Michele Chiarlo winery is one of the most unique wineries in the world. Called Orme su La Court ("Footsteps in La Court"), it is an art walk dedicated to the four elements of earth, air, fire and water that meanders down vine rows, among farm buildings and across the hills of the La Court property in Barbera d'Asti. In this landscape, as in the winery, the fruit of nature comingles with the fruit of human ingenuity to inspire the senses.
