Michel-Schlumber Syrah 2005

Syrah from the M-S estate is consistently one of the cellar favorites. Its elegant balance and floral qualities are hidden well under a barrage of blackberries, cedar and grilled meat. Just a spot of viognier helps this wine retain its dense mid-palate, at the same time ensuring that it doesn’t go too far off the density scale.

With six different syrah clones (clones 1, 3, 174, 470, 877 and Estrella River) to choose from, we have the opportunity to hand craft/blend something that not only represents Michel-Schlumberger and Dry Creek Valley, but also syrah as well. Being a true estate winery, we’re getting to know these specific syrah blocks well and we feel like it shows in the bottle. This wine does not need crutches.

97% Syrah, 3% Viogner
