Michel-Schlumber Chardonnay 2005
The 2005 Vintage gave us an opportunity to showcase our Dijon clone Chardonnay from both ranches. Harvested at "near perfect" (nothing is ever perfect) ripeness, these grapes put the pressure on us as a winemaking team to make sure they turned out as good as they looked. With expertise, passion and some luck, the 2005 stands up to the 2004 La Brume with its own distinctive estate qualities and characteristics. It was a tall order, but the 2005 La Brume just may be taller.... With emphasis on true varietal fruit character, this Chardonnay shows how well balanced Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay can be. With a huge hit of citrus blossom, honeysuckle and pear, it's sure to turn heads with its room filling aromas. Once inside, it's pure and focused with a concise minerality and attractive spiciness that immediately begs for food. 100% barrel fermented with an increased use of wild fermentation, this wine is elegant and complex...classic Michel-Schlumberger Chardonnay.
