Mendoza Vineyards 1907 Malbec 2011
This exceptional parcel of Malbec has been partly fermented in new French oak barrels to add an oaky complexity to the rich and vibrant jammy fruit characters of this increasingly fashionable grape variety. Deep purple color. Aromas of berries, notes of graphite, black cherry, and spice. Great concentration, firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a long finish.
The 1907 Malbec Selection is the result of grapes taken from an old vineyard called Medrano. This vineyard, planted by immigrants in 1907, has been producing premium wines from Argentina for over one hundred years. The vineyard is Fairtrade certified and is located 2,297 feet above sea level. It has a natural low yield and irrigation is superficial.
