Born and trained in Bordeaux, France Philippe brought his passion for winemaking to California. There, he fell in love with Cherie, his partner in life and in the art of winemaking. Their belief that a grape must tell the story of its native soil is what sets the standard for the wines they create. Philippe has a passion for balance and perfection. You can see it in his eyes. Metisse is a French word meaning "a blend of cultures." They chose this name because it embodies both the spirit of their original concept (a blend of Bordeaux varietals: cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and petit verdot) and their spirit as winemakers (a blend of French and American). The 2007 vintage resulted in a wine with intense and extremely complex flavors and amazing structure. CJ is an acronym for their two children, Chloe and Jeremy. They decided to make this wine as a fun project—something youthful in spirit with vibrant fruit sources. The idea was to create one of the best-value wines available. This is the wine you open up while cooking dinner, then bring to the table. It's meant to be enjoyed young with family and friends. This CJ Cabernet Sauvignon is dense, dark, and simply delicious.
