Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico 2009
A very intense ruby red in color, the Marchese Antinori 2008 shows a nose with captivating notes of ripe fruit (blackberries, plums, and wild cherries) which perfectly reflect the characteristics of the growing season. On the palate the wine is well structured, with supple tannins which are both sweet and rounded; the lengthy finish promises long life and the aftertaste recalls, together, notes of ripe fruit and licorice.
90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Marchesi Antinori's heritage includes 26 generations and over 600 years of traditional and innovative wine production in Tuscany and Umbria. The family traces its winemaking history to 1180 and subsequently, in 1385, registered in the Florentine Vintners' Guild. As president, Marchese Piero Antinori has shaped the company over the past quarter-century into one whose wines are prized by connoisseurs the world over. Today the firm is run by Marquis Piero Antinori with the support of his three daugthers, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia, who are directly involved in the work of the house.
