Marcato Barattaro Pinot Noir 2007
From the block Barattaro vinified and aged in oak casks for 16 months.
Generation succeeded upon generation seemingly so swiftly, that one would almost forget the more than 140 years that have past since the day on which Francesco Marcato bought the first five pieces of land in Ronca, the village which became the birthplace of Azienda Marcato. From these first 5 vineyards of hardly more than 1.5 ha in 1800 the Marcato property has grown to more than 60 ha today. Of these, 5 ha are situated on the slopes of the hills immediately behind the renovated winery and planted with the splendid Durello grape variety, while several rows of Pinot Noir are a testimony of the estate's dedication to ongoing investments in the future. Today, Lino Marcato and his brother Giovanni, together with Lino's sons Enrico and Andrea, run the estate while sharing a passion for the wines based on ancient experience as well as first indepth knowledge of enological developments and research.
