The village of Estezargues, in the Southern Rhone, is home to roughly 400 people. Les Vignerons d'Estezargues is a cooperative of small local wine growers, created in 1965 and respected for its environmental practices. In the late nineties, the coop introduced natural winemaking, involving smaller yields and eschewing external yeasts, filtration, fining, enzymes, SO2 on the grapes at harvest or during vinification (a small amount is used at bottling).
Grapes from different growers are blended by winemaker Denis Deschamps into this fruit-filled, subtly tannined Grenache. Small is beautiful!
