Kelt Tour du Monde V.S.O.P Cognac
This Grande Champagne cognac has received its final maturation at sea in oak barrels—the rarest and oldest VSOP on the world market. Dark golden-yellow-amber color. Delicate vanilla-oak scent, with a touch of Port wine, dried rose and violet. Fruity and jammy palate with notes of apricot, fig, hazelnut, and licorice. Mellow, warm, well balanced, great structure, and a long finish—at least 10 minutes on the palate. Centuries ago it was discovered that cognac, which was sent from France to the colonies, improved dramtically during the long sea voyage; equally this was true for other spirits such as Scotch whisky sent from Europe and rum sent from the West Indies. The rolling of the sea, temperature variations, frequent air-pressure changes and the sea air itself, rounds the spirit off in a beautiful way. In the 20th centurey came the age of the brands. This meant that spirits were shipped in bottles rather than in oak barrels. The magical effect of the sea was lost as a spirit does not mature once it is bottled. Kelt has revived the tradition and taken it one step further. They send their already aged spirits, still in oak barrels, on a three-month sea voyage around the globe. This, the Kelt Tour du Monde, creates a unique spirit and restores an aspect of quality lost for almost a century
