Hugonis is a wine which at once displays the austere nature of the Sicilian soil. Aging in small barrels for eighteen months, this wine acquires an elegance which is enhanced by the varietal aromas and enriched by new and interesting sensations. The seal on the label of this wine is the coat of arms of the family of Hugues Bernard Conte de la Gatinais who wished to personalize in this way the most precious product of the Rapitala estate.
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Nero d'Avola. Bottled by Tenuta Rapitala ("Beautiful Garden of God")—lies between the towns of Camporeale and Alcamo, in the northwest corner of Sicily. In 1968 French count, Hugues Bernard de la Gatinais, married Gigi Guarrasi, a descendant of a great family from Palermo. With her, he engaged in a passionate and courageous adventure: the renovation of the cellars and vineyards of the Guarrasi family's Tenuta Rapitala, an estate that had been destroyed by the Belice Valley earthquake of 1968.
