This wine was produced from syrah (the classic-variety grapes) grown in the ideal conditions of Golan Heights (cool climate, rocky volcanic soil, and high altitude). Aging in French oak barrels for 12 months balances out the classic smoky, blackberry, and earthy characters of syrah.

Golan Heights Winery was founded in 1983 in the Golan Heights. Here, in this breathtaking strip of land, everything begins with the right conditions—volcanic basaltic soil, suitable topography, and cool high-altitude climate. This unique combination is what gives Golan Heights its second name of "wine country." With over 28 vineyards that span over 1500 acres and four leading brands under their belt (Yarden, Gamla, Mount Hermon, and Golan), Golan Heights Winery has played a significant role in developing and nurturing Israel's current wine culture. In the Golan Heights lies Gilgal Refaim, a 5,000-year-old site unlike any other. 42,000 basalt rocks are arranged in concentric circles, their purpose shrouded in mystery. Gilgal brings the spirit of this enigma to life, with wine grown in this ancient earth.
