(30% cabernet, 25% petit verdot, 25% Merlot, 20% cabernet franc) The 2008 vintage continues a remarkably strong decade of harvests in Mclaren Vale, joining 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. An almost perfect growing season paved the way for a remarkably strong vintage where all the strongest parcels of fruit were picked in ideal conditions. We declassified a large percentage of the 2008 cabernet due to the quality being below our expectations, so the resulting 2008 volumes of Tatty Road are minute! That being said, the power and concentration of this vintage exceed our expectations. We have been making this wine for 9 vintages and this is the style we ultimately set out to achieve ... lush but restrained.
