Fleur de Fonplegade Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2010
Chateau Fleur de Fonplegade is a clean, well focused wine displaying abundant up front plum and red fruit flavors, medium body, fine-grained tannins and a bright, fruit-tinged finish. Comprised of a selection of younger blocks not used in Chateau Fonplegade, Fleur de Fonplegade was treated to the same vinification protocol.
The wine underwent seven days of cold maceration with regular pump overs and light, twice-daily punch downs before fermentation, by block and by varietal, in new thermo-regulated tanks for 40-45 days. Secondary (malolactic) fermentation took place in barrel. The wine was aged for 24 months in exclusively new oak barrels; a selection from eight of France's finest coopers.
