98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc. Founded in 1982 by Tony Soter, Etude ("study") is a classical music composition with a technical focus that allows the musician to practice a particular technique. Similarly, Etude's wines are the product of deliberate concentration on the instructive variables of the craft. In 2002, the estate vineyard was built to encompass a long-term concept of sustainability that includes sensitivity to the environment and minimal impact on neighbors and the community. "Fish-Friendly Farming" has been implemented to restore and sustain fish habitat and improve water quality. Special care has been given to maintain native flora and fauna, including hundreds of California Oaks, Live Oaks, and California Bay trees. There are also animal corridors throughout the property as well as owl boxes for the native owls to use. The classic, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers aromas of tobacco leaf, cedar, black currants, tar, licorice, and espresso.
