Errazuriz Estate Carmenere 2009
Estate Carmenere is an exotic and spicy, full-bodied style with damson and blackberry fruit. Deep purplish-red in color, with an aromatic expression that reflects the varietal balance, offering aromas of nutmeg and red pepper and notes of violets and sweet spices. The palate is intense, with smooth, friendly tannins and pleasing, well-balanced acidity that leads to a pleasingly refreshing finish.
90% Carmenere, 10% Petit Verdot. Don Maximiano Errazuriz founded Vina Errazuriz in 1870 in the Valle de Aconcagua, 62 miles north of the capital city, Santiago. Recognizing that this valley, with its cool, rainy winters, hot, dry summers, and moist Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, his descendents strive to build on his legacy, locating ideal vineyard sites, planting new varieties and realizing techniques to capture the Aconcagua Valley's perfect conditions. The Don Maximiano Estate is their premier vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley, where abundant sunshine, clear skies, and cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean create perfectly ripe, balanced wines.
