Elke Riesling 2012
Caresses a smell of dried fruit, honey, ripe pineapple, and yellow peaches on the nose. Quaffable and effervescent when it lingers on the tongue. A sweet, ripe apple/peach/miracle fruit lends its taste to the body. Elke embodies an elegant crispness with a kiss of sweetness at first sip. Full aroma, a great minerality, and acidity to balance the sweetness that leaves your mouth watering for more. It is delicious by itself or pairs well with seafood, spicy food, or white meat. Its bright acidity tones work well with a variety of cheeses or pastas that have a touch of cream.
Bottled by D-RP 504 205, shipped by Josef Kollmann (a wine broker between winegrowers and wineries), and imported by Savorian Inc.—an international wholesaler and distributor of wines based out of Brooklyn, New York and Barcelona, Spain. Savorian began in 2006 with a collaboration stemming from Esade Business School and a local Barcelona entrepreneur. Over several years, the idea to assist the small, family-run vineyards to get their beloved products to the marketplace became one part of the company's motivational drive. The second part was to direct great, non-commercialized, affordable wine into the hands of wine consumers in the US and Asia. As a result of these relationships with their winemakers, Savorian in 2012 expanded into Tuscany, Italy, and Mosel, Germany. Elke is an old Germanic word meaning "noble." Elke embodies an elegant crispness with a kiss of sweetness. Elke is picked from heart and soul of the Mosel Valley. Where the valley walls are lined with slate and enriched with minerals, thus creating one of the world's most complex bottles of wines.
