El Perro Verde 2014
Medium straw-colored, the bouquet offers up mineral, spice box, citrus, and floral notes. It's a medium-bodied wine with an excellent concentration, savory flavors, a good balance of fruit and acidity and a long fruit filled finish. It pairs well with hors d'oeuvres, seafood such as clam, oyster, octopus, squid and shellfish, fresh water prawns and Camerano cheese.
From the Spanish expression "rarer or stranger than a green dog" El Perro Verde is Quim Vila's latest project which he conceived with Spain's leading wine critic – Jose Penin. It comes from the historic high-altitude vineyards of Rueda. The wine is made by Javier Lorenzo at Bodegas y Vinedos and Ángel Lorenzo Cachazo in Pozaldez where the cold, dry winters, unfertile soils and low yields result in grapes with concentrated and complex flavors. A widespread commercial success, in Spain, Eric Solomon Selections is thrilled to welcome El Perro Verde into the American market.
