Domaine Vougeon Brouilly 2011
Gamay | France
Nicely ripe aromas of black cherry, crushed black raspberry, cocoa powder, licorice and nutmeg open the show and get darker and richer with a little air. In the mouth, it's fresh and juicy with flavors of black cherry and strawberry/rubarb pie in the middle and notes of powdered baking chocolate, and tangy citrus skin underneath.
Finishes with some nice and juicy dark berry fruit and just a hint of clove and citrusy acidity. Pretty yummy, actually, and even better with a light chill and a bite of grilled sausage (hot dogs, anyone?) or a burger. Kind of a silly wine, but an even sillier price!
