A powerful and firm wine, austere at the height of its youth. Sometimes tight tannins on the finish; requires a minimum of 12 years before revealing all of its complexity. Very ripe, black-fruit aromas with spicy notes.
100% Pinot Noir. Since the late 1800s, the Tortochot family has been making high-quality wines in Gevrey-Chambertin. At the end of the 19th century, Paul Tortochot purchased some land in Gevrey-Chambertin and began to sell his wines in the Place des Marronniers market. His son Felix expanded the family holdings when he married Louise Liebault and the couple joined their vineyards. The tradition continued with Gabriel Tortochot and currently resides with his daughter Chantal, a 4th-generation winemaker who learned the family's trade secrets by working closely with her father up until he passed away in 2001.
