Domaine J.A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuisse 2013
Layers of subtle fruit notes combine stone fruits, acacia flowers, and spiced hazelnut butter. The finish is long, intense, and spicy. A wine whose balance permits it to age gracefully. Pair with shellfish and mollusks, seafood risotto, grilled or pan-fried fish, veal cutlets with creamy sauces, or goat's cheeses and hard cow's milk cheeses.
100% Chardonnay. Based in the heart of the village of Fuisse in Southern Burgundy, Domaine Ferret was founded in 1940 by Jeanne Ferret. Its wines are made from Chardonnay grapes grown in over 42 acres of vineyards located at the heart of the property, which expresses both the diversity and the purity of Pouilly-Fuisse. After World War II, the domain was the first in Pouilly-Fuisse to move from bulk wine production to bottling on the estate, for greater control of quality. Domaine Ferret is now owned by Maison Louis Jadot, who acquired the property in 2008, but its traditions of excellence and women as winemakers established by the Ferrets are still continued. The wine shows great balance between weight and freshness, with elegance derived from seamless minerality.
