Domaine Humbert Freres Gevrey-Chambertin 2009
A concentrated wine, almost black in color yet with the most elegant and delicate perfumed dark fruit and spice on the nose. The palate is concentrated, balanced blackcurrant and strawberry fruit with hints of liquorice, spice & game and a long finish. A young wine that is immensely enjoyable, yet will be magnificent with 5-10 years of bottle ageing. Pair with beef or game.
Emmanuel and Frederic Humbert are the fourth generation of vignerons to tend this family estate. They took over the domaine from their parents in 1989 and since then they have been quietly and steadily improving the quality of their wine. Today they produce wines which reflect their dedicated effort and experience of the past 12 vintages. Emmanuel is the dynamic force behind this domaine: he is a thoughtful and passionate man with a great love for wine, food and rugby. Frederic is shier and more reserved. The Humbert Brothers are well connected in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, where they can count on a wealth of accumulated winemaking experience from their relations and family friends.
