Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo). Bottled by Quinta and Vineyard Bottlers Vinhos S.A., which is owned by The Taylor Fladgate Partnership but the Delaforce brand itself is owned by Real Companhia Velha. The members of the Delaforce family, of Huguenot origin, can trace their history back over 400 years. Their involvement in the port business dates from 1834 when John Fleurriet Delaforce came to Oporto to set up a new firm called Martinez Gassiot on behalf of its partners. In 1868 his son George Henry Delaforce founded his own firm, the House of Delaforce. Delaforce has developed a reputation for its outstanding blending and aging skills, which express themselves in the company's renowned, aged-tawny ports, His Eminence’s Choice and Curious & Ancient. Both brands were originally created in the 1930s. The house is also celebrated for the elegant and finely-constituted Delaforce vintage ports produced from grapes grown in the Roncao and Rio Torto areas of the Douro. Today, Delaforce is owned and run by Real Companhia Velha, also known as Royal Oporto, who have over 250 years of existence and uninterrupted activity in the port-wine trade. Delaforce's vintage ports are produced only in years of outstanding quality and represent a selection of the very finest quality and represent a selection of the very best wines of the harvest, chosen for their ability to continue improving for many decades in bottle. Their elegance and balance are achieved by selecting wines from several different vineyards in the Cima Corgo area of the Douro Valley, each of which contributes its distinctive character to the blend. Vintage Porto ages in the bottle and should be stored lying down. During aging, a natural sediment will form in the bottle and the wine should therefore be decanted before being served.
