Corbieres La Combe des Oliviers 2008
Blend | France
Corbieres is a quantitatively significant appellation in the Languedoc region of Southern France. Mourvedre can be a tricky grape to ripen but the warmer areas of Corbieres succeed with pleasing regularity.
Hot and dry summers in the 'garrigue' landscape of Corbieres give this chunky red (made from 70% Mourvedre plus Syrah and Grenache) a whiff of rosemary and thyme alongside the blackberry and plum fruits. Elegant tannins make it more approachable than some Southern French reds.
