Dark cherry-red color. Intense nose of ripe fruits (cassis) and comfit fruit mixed with sensations of toasted coffee and licorice, which bring finesse and elegance. Power, fleshiness, flavor, and opulence combine in the palate of this wine, which will gradually develop in the bottle.
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Monastrell (old vines). Produced by Bodegas El Nido, a project established in 2002 resulting from a collaboration of the Gil family (whose members are prestigious wine producers in Jumilla known for their previous work at Finca Luzon, with Miguel Gil as head of the operation and, at the time, president of the Consejo Regulador), Chris Ringland (one of the most renowned Australian enologist and creator of Clio and El Nido wines), and Jorge Odonez (main Spanish wine importer in the US). The winery is located in the Valle de La Aragona, inside the Murcia district of Jumilla and its surroundings. The vineyards contain 64 acres of old Monastrell vines (all gobelet trained with northeast orientation) and 4 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon (planted 25 years ago on smooth hills facing north).
