Chimney Rock Winery is the cornerstone of the Terlato Family wineries. It is symbolic of the family's dedication to producing the highest-quality wines. In 1980, Hack and Stella Wilson purchased a 180-acre parcel, which included a golf course, situated on the east side of the Silverado Trail. They also built a country house based on Cape Dutch-style architecture. The Wilson family teamed up with the Terlatos in 2000 for much-needed resources and the goal of enhancing Chimney Rock's reputation. Finally in 2004, the Terlato family assumed sole ownership of Chimney Rock but still crafts unique wines of exceptional quality that show a true sense of place. The 2007 Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon is a great representative of the breadth of the fruit. It has power and finesse with striking body and generous aromas.
Deep ruby-red color. Cassis, blackberries, and plums along with vanilla, mocha, and clove. There is unquestionable richness in the palate. Full burst of beautiful fruit followed by mid-palate unctuousness. The finish is long and very, very silky.
