Chateau Tanunda Grand Barossa Chardonnay 2013
Grand Barossa Chardonnay displays delicacy, elegance, and finesse that can be achieved from this noble variety. Pale straw color with green and golden hues. Heady aromas of citrus fruits, melon, and white peach lead to bright tropical fruit flavors on the palate with a refreshing acidity. On the finish, there is a hint of vanilla and cashew nut from partial new-French-oak-barrel maturation. An excellent match with seafood and shellfish, as well as creamy pasta dishes.
100% Chardonnay. Chateau Tanunda, Australia's oldest and grandest chateau and the "Icon of the Barossa," is located at the site of the very first vines planted in the Barossa in 1845. The majestic building (built later in 1890) and its prime vineyards are privately owned by the Geber family who continue a century-old tradition of fine winemaking. Their house style is classic and refined, combining both traditional and winemaking techniques to make superb handcrafted wines of complexity and intensity.
