Anne Lise Goujon and Pierre Chatenet have been making this beautiful wine from their 19.7 acres of vines since 1984. Located in the commune of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, in the AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Chateau Moulin de Lagnet was purchased outright from family members by Anne Lise and her husband, Pierre, so that they might avoid the French inheritance laws that threatened to divide and destroy this fourth-generation property. The vineyards surround their house and a 16th-century chai, which was once a wind-driven flour mill belonging to the Medieval Baron de Lagnet. The vines here are planted on the highly lauded terroir of the plateau, with clay-rich calcareous soil on hard limestone bedrock, above the village where all the Grand Cru classes are located. Yields are kept short of the allowable levels, resulting in a natural concentration of the wines. Anne Lise and Piere have been practicing organic viticulture since 2001, so everything is done by hand and the chateau has been certified organic by Ecocert in 2004. Pierre is also a meticulous gardener who hand-prunes the vines, tending to them every day of the growing season.

This medium bodied-red wine is soft with red-plum-fruit character and medium tannins
