Francois and Sylvie Barron make award winning red and white wine at Chateau Meric in the Graves district of Bordeaux. The dark, pebbly soil produces excellent wines of both types. The red is Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
The red Graves is well balanced and complex; a medium-bodied fruity red that is drinkable now, and will improve for several more years. It is a good choice for grilled red meats, wild fowl and lamb. The Barron wines have a friendly, warm quality that will please many palates.
