Chateau La Croix de Jaugue Saint Emilion 2006
Chateau La Croix de Jaugue Saint Emilion is a red wine gem from this esteemed right-bank appellation of Bordeaux. It is a family estate that dates to 1931, when the property was acquired by the Biguad family. Chateau La Croix de Jaugue holds 5.5 hectares of vineyard distinguished by its singular sub-soil of clay under gravel and limestone. This Saint Emilion is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from 40-year-old vines.
Chateau La Croix de Jaugue Saint Emilion is deep ruby red in color with aromas of blackberry, strawberry, plum, vanilla and tobacco. Medium-full in body with moderate acidity and silky tannins, this Bordeaux offers rich flavors of plums, blueberries, black currants, vanilla and spice. It was aged for 8-10 months in second-year oak barrels. Beautifully balanced and already seductive, it should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years. The wine is smooth and long on the finish.
