Chateau-Fuisse Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes 2008
Incredibly complex from the nose of honey and vanilla to it's palate of layered orchard fruit, spice, and lengthy finish. Pair with foie gras, noble fish such as tarbot, lobster, or poultry.
100% Chardonnay. Chateau de Fuisse is recognized as the benchmark estate in Pouilly-Fuisse. Its rich history features a 15th-century pentagonal tower and a renaissance stone porch dating back to 1604. The two centuries-old, bottle-shaped yew trees that guard the tower are reproduced on each label as an authentic signature of their wines. The Vincent family has owned the estate since 1862. It is currently managed by Jean-Jacques Vincent and his son, 5th generation winemaker Antoine, combining traditional winemaking with carefully applied modern technology. Owning more than 85 acres of vineyards covering 5 different appellations, Chateau de Fuisse is able to adapt vinification to the specifics of each parcel, which allows for the unique vineyard expression, natural ripeness, concentration, and mineral freshness of their wines. The Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes is a blend of the best and oldest parcels of the Chateau Fuisse estate, ranging from 30 to 70 years old. The wines were fermented and matured in oak barrels for 10 months (with 20% new barrels). The complexity of the different terroirs gives an excellent expression of the Chardonnay grape. It is well-balanced, concentrated, rich, powerful, and age-worthy.
