Chateau Fourcas-Borie 2009
Blend | France
85% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot. Rich, with glossy black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, lots of spice, a plump, flashy, even flamboyant personality, and a heady finish.
Chateau Fourcas-Borie, acquired by the Borie family in September 2009, is located north of the village of Listrac-Medoc. The chateau originated from the union of the Clos du Fourcas and Moulin du Bourg estates, which are amongst the oldest vineyards of the village. Its 74-plus-acre vineyards are ideally located on the north edge of the chateau over gravelly, clay, and limestone soils. Also, the remote distance of the river from the vineyards is an undeniable advantage as the grapes are protected from the fogs bordering its estuary, thus promoting a healthier vine.
