83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Aromas of cassis, autumn leaves, graphite, and mocha precede a palate laced with bramble berries, earth, roasted espresso beans, tar, and black spices.
Chalk Hill, established in 1972 by Fred Furth, is the only 100% estate winery in the Chalk Hill appellation of the Russian River Valley. All Chalk Hill wines are handcrafted from grapes grown exclusively on the estate. Each variety is matched to specific sites and mesoclimates; gentle winemaking practices capture the diversity of each vineyard block, resulting in wines of distinction and elegance. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromatic lift, complexity, and intrigue on the nose and palate.
