Centorri Moscato 2013
Centorri Moscato provides an authentic, good quality, bright, and competitively priced Moscato. Pale sunshine-yellow color with a slight sparkle. This moscato has intense aromas of peaches, rose petals, and ginger. On the palate, it is delicately sweet and sparkling, with modest acidity, good balance, and complexity with a finish of fresh apricots.
100% Moscato ("Muscat"). Produced by Eleanor Estate, founded in the 1960s in Castiglione Tinella (Asti) of Piedmont. The estate is also referred to as "the ladies of Moscato" because it is owned and managed by women. Eleanora Brangero, for whom the winery is named after, manages the estate and is also the winemaker. Her mother, Emiliana, and grandmother, Camilla, help run the vineyards. Eleanor Estate was originally just vineyards and the grapes were sold to a local Asti Spumante producer. In 2003, they started producing Moscato from vineyards in the Province of Pavia. Today, they focus their production solely on Moscato di Pavia, but the winery is still located in Castiglione Tinella. Eleanor Estate's About info (in Italian) on their Facebook page best describes them (and translated here): "A wine cellar for women, where women personally work to produce the best Moscato ever. Sweet, fresh, sparkling, fragrant . . . Characteristics that Moscato fully shares with the feminine world." Centorri is a fantasy name that refers to Pavia's famous 100 towers ("cento" + "torri").
