Dark Horse Cabernet is made from a blend of hand-selected grapes grown predominantly in the Lodi and Delta winegrowing areas of California's Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. The 2021 Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon was carefully aged to develop dark fruit flavors and dark roast aromas.
The ripest fruit was selected from the Lodi, Delta, and Clarksburg areas for their Chardonnay wine and they're proud to offer it as the perfect complement to their red wines.

This wine, though possessing the characteristic suaveness of the site, does possess a trace more density than years past–likely due to the additional thinning passes we made. It was also an exceptional year for Mataro in a generally very strong year at the site, and the variety makes up over 30% of the blend.
The 2021 growing season was preceded by mild and dry winter weather from January through March. Winter rainfall was largely absent across Northern California and the Napa Valley entered the growing season with rain totals that ranged from 40 to 60% below normal and had temperatures that were two to three degrees warmer than average.
