At the very top of the Côte de Beaune between the villages of Meursault and Puligny, a few vineyard rows abut the forest known as the Bois de Blagny. Conditions are slightly cooler due to the elevation and the proximity to these woods, and the soil is chock-full of blocks of limestone.
There is nothing civil about this 2008 Chateau Bellevue. Something noble, earlier. Something distinguished, with all the proper ripeness, with woodland and mushroom in the aroma, with a touch of coffee.
Stéphane Usseglio, son of Raymond, has taken over the domaine in the last few years and he is pushing to reach the potential of the family’s holdings, some of he best of Châteauneuf.
