Castillo de Penyafiel Reserva 2014
This wine is cherry colored with some orange lights and brown trims. Aromas of ripe forest fruit, toast, truffle, vanilla, and cappuchino smells. Roundy and meaty with sweet tannin content. The perfect pairing for Castillo de Penyafiel Reserve could be sausages, barbecue, cured meat, or stews. Aged for 18 months in French and American barrels. Best consumed at 60–64 degrees F.
100% Tempranillo. Made and bottled by Bodegas Thesaurus, a project of the Martin Verastegui family in the Ribera de Duero. This winemaker family, since 1930, have a great tradition in the Denomination of Origin elaborating, bottling, and aging wines since the beginning of the regulatory council. The project culminated in the construction of a warehouse for 200,000 bottles, linking the best vinification techniques for red wines while taking advantage of the best climate that provides La Milla de Oro ("The Golden Mile") to the Ribera de Duero vineyards. Manually harvested and selected, controlled. Alcoholic fermentation at 28 degrees C in oak. Aged 18 months in French and American oak.
