This Negroamaro Maru reveal an exotic expression of dried figs, plums, cherries, spices, herbs and tobacco. It is an absolutely delicious wine to drink now and over the next few years.
100% Negroamaro. Not far from the town of Lecce and from the sea, on the road to Taranto, at the gates of Salice Salentino, centuries-old olive trees and flourishing vineyards surround Castello Monaci. The estate is housed in a 16th-century castle with medieval foundations once run by Basiliani monks who maintained a long winemaking tradition. The Memmo family has owned the estate since the 19th century, with Lina Memmo and husband Vitantonio Seracca as the current owners. The long corridor which links the main road to the castle is a line which goes through the estate; a meridian that divides the vineyards and opens the gates to the modern cellar. Here spreads the sun which floods the land and creates unique shapes, like the fruits to which it gives birth.
