Cartlidge & Browne (C&B) Merlot, North Coast 2006

Merlot is like that ol' pick-up truck of mine. Dependable. A real worker. Just jump in and start it up. It never lets me down. Oh sure it might not be fancy. But I can't tell you how many times I'm glad I have it. And my friends are glad I have it too. It just makes my life easier. And isn't that what it's all about? Cartlidge & Browne was founded more than 33 years ago with a commitment to produce value-driven wines from the best vineyards in California's North Coast. A classic winemaking style and selective fruit sourcing from Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake Counties, ensures that Cartlidge & Browne wines will remain true to their commitment; to produce well-balanced, lightly oaked, and low-in-alcohol wines for food-friendly pairings. All portions were fermented and underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Both the Sonoma and Mendocino lots spent eleven months in oak (90% American, 10% French). The Lake County wine saw nine months in American oak and the Lodi wine had six months also in American oak. After barrel aging, the wine was blended and bottled unfined in May 2008.
