The 2010 vintage, despite being later than normal and a bit cooler the average produced wines with stunning color, great intensity, and balanced mature tannis. The resulting wine has aromas of black cherry, plum, cassis, brown sugar, rose petals, hazelnut, and blackberry compote. The palate is full of toasty oak, baking spice, boysenberry, blueberry, and milk chocolate flavors. The tannins are integrated, smooth and mouth coating.
The Cade ‘Napa Valley’ Cabernet Sauvignon is made with fruit from some of Napa Valley’s most renowned vineyards: Kendrick Ranch Vineyards in Calistoga, Beckstoffer’s Melrose Vineyard in Rutherford and Dr. Crane Vineyards in St. Helena, Hanson-Hsieh Vineyard in Oak Knoll, Heitz Cellars in Pope Valley, UC Davis Oakville Station, and Komes Ranch in St. Helena. The wine received 18 months barrel aging in 100% French Oak. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel immediately after primary fermentation. The wine was racked quarterly once malolactic fermentation was complete.
