Buena Vista Winery Carneros Ramal Vineyard Pinot Noir 2004

The pedigree of the site and quality of the vintage are clearly in evidence here. The color is deep purple with aromas of blackberry, violet, clove and anise, subtle earth, and forest floor. There is mocha in the background, continuing with flavors of rich raspberry, creme de cassis, plum, and candied ginger. The wine has a long finish with rich tannins. The 2004 Ramal Vineyard Pinot Noir shows concentration and elegance and provides a great glimpse of the quality coming from the Buena Vista estate property. 100% Pinot Noir. Before there was a California wine industry at all, there was Buena Vista. Founded in 1857 in Sonoma, it is California's first premium winery, boasting a history as colorful as it is proud. The original stone winery contains Sonoma's first wine caves. Its founder, the Count of Buena Vista, Count Agoston Harazthy, saw in Sonoma one of the great winegrowing regions of the world where he laid the foundation for California viticulture when he brought thousands of premium grape vines from Europe.
